HOLIDAYS are the times for connecting … with family…friends…the community at large. Many people are cut off from this connection due to health problems, advanced age, or other circumstances. The Holiday Project provides volunteers with opportunities to let people in need know that they haven’t been forgotten and to brighten their lives by brightening their day! This is done through organized visits to nursing facilities and hospitals in celebration of selected holidays throughout the year:
Visit dates scheduled for 2015 are as follows:
Volunteers gather at their choice of the two meeting places listed below and are organized into teams to go on to visit assigned locations. (Each volunteer is responsible for his/her own transportation.)
CY-FAIR — Grace Care Center of Cypress — 9602 Huffmeister; Houston (77095)
KATY — Grace Care Center of Katy — 23553 West Fernhurst Drive; Katy (77494)
At each respective meeting place, each volunteer will be given a map to their assigned visit site and greeting cards to share with the persons they visit. Time spent at the assigned sites varies from visit to visit, but typically a visit lasts from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours.
(NOTE: Effective March 2015, Volunteer Houston has moved to new and improved offices at 12425 Chimney Rock, # 250 (77035), near the junction of Chimney Rock and I-90. As in the past, we intend to use our office site as a meeting place in connection with Holiday Project visits. However, temporary logistical considerations prevent us from doing so in time for our April 4 Easter Saturday visits. When the new location becomes available for subsequent visit dates, we will of course post that news prominently on this page. )
