Do I have to register to search for a volunteer opportunity?

 No, you do not have to register.  By registering you can save your profile, favorite searches, disaster response interest, even track your volunteer hours on line.  There is no charge to register. 

 How can I find a volunteer opportunity located close to my home/office?

 You can search by zip code, entering in your zip code and selecting the desired radius to search.  You can also choose to select a cause or population served to narrow the choices.

 How can I find an agency by name? 

 You can enter a part of the agency name in the Keyword search or you can look at the alphabetical listings of agencies.

 What if I want to volunteer on a set day?

 To find date specific opportunities, select “Calendar” on the search tool bar.  You can click on any of the listings to get more information.

 How do I know if I am too young to volunteer at an organization?

 Every organization is asked to indicate the ages for a volunteer opportunity.  To find opportunities for a specific age group, such as adolescents age 13 – 17, you select that age as criteria for your search in the “Advanced Search” option.  The opportunities the search brings up will be for that age group.  It is Ok to call or email to check on the accepted age for volunteers.

 What if we have a group that wants to volunteer together?

 You can choose the group size as criteria for your search to find group opportunities in the “Advanced Search”

 What if I have court ordered hours that I need to perform?

 Not every organization will accept court ordered volunteers.  Some organizations have indicated they will take court ordered volunteers when registering opportunities.  Use that as a criterion in the “Advanced Search” option.  If you are especially interested in an organization, contact them directly to see if you can do your service there.  Be sure you are clear that you need verification for court ordered service.
