Youth Services includes support for our Youth Council. This teenage group helps us plan and improve our service opportunities for all young volunteers in Houston. It also includes support for Commanders, our summer service program in the Clear Lake area. Adolescents and teenagers spend three weeks exploring their community through service projects. You can help in the following ways:

  • Make a financial contribution to Volunteer Houston indicating your preference for support
  • Participate in the Commanders program (there is a fee for participation)
  • Support us through the use of your Kroger Share Card. All you have to do is print and present this document to your Kroger store cashier. The barcode is specific to Volunteer Houston

Contact Jennifer Borneman for participation in the Commander’s program at

  • Submit a nomination of your favorite volunteer. All volunteers receive some form of recognition by the Mayor’s Officer and Volunteer Houston.

A Visit From Saint Nicholas has become a Houston tradition. For over 20 years, Volunteer Houston and Houstonians have celebrated the legend of Saint Nicholas helping those who are less fortunate. In early December, volunteers pack and deliver school backpacks to children who may not receive many gifts during the holidays. You can help us in the following ways:

  • Sponsor a school or a classroom of one of our participating schools
  • Sponsor a child for a gift in honor of clients or friends
  • Donate legal size paper to be used for the activity book in their backpack
