2021 Women’s Her-story Corporate + Community Service Project

Be a part of Her-story! During the month of March, Volunteer Houston, the Houston affiliate for Points of Light, will commemorate Women’s History Month with an impactful and socially distanced service project designed to support Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for companies of all sizes. Designated by Congress in 1987 to recognize the achievements of women in a variety of fields – science, community, government, literature, art, sports and medicine – Women’s History month celebrates their contributions to the United States over the course of American history.

Through this corporate service project, your employees will experience first hand how volunteering makes a substantial impact on organizations that empower girls and women in the development of self-respect. Local nonprofits are empowering women of all ages and backgrounds to explore any and all opportunities for for their future by meeting their basic needs – which is what this service project is all about!

We believe this project can unite all people interested in celebrating Women’s History Month through volunteerism. Together we will draw strength and inspiration from the women who came before us and from the remarkable women working among us today. They are a part of “her-story”.

How It Works

Step 1

CORPORATE PARTICIPANTS

Determine the number of employees who will each assemble 7 Healthy Hygiene + 7 Self-Care kits in high demand by local nonprofits whose missions focus on empowering women.

Determine whether each employee will take a personal project box home to assemble kits with family and friends OR employees will assemble kits at your office in a socially distanced manner.

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS

Gather your friends and family to help you assemble 7 Healthy Hygiene + 7 Self-Care kits in your personal project box OR encourage them to purchase their own personal project boxes.

Step 2

CORPORATE PARTICIPANTS

Register online by March 15th. Registrations received by March 5th will receive a $100 credit!

We will generate a custom invoice within 3 business days. Your registration commits your company to participating in the 2021 Women’s Her-story Corporate Service Project.

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS

Register and pay online by March 15th. $110 per Personal Project Box.

NOTE: The average cost of each kit assembled by both corporate and individual participants is $7.86 which will provide one woman with the complete list of supplies described in “The Kits” section above!

Step 3

CORPORATE PARTICIPANTS

We will deliver your project materials to your office on Monday, April 5th. Your team members should pick up their personal project boxes, assemble kits and return to your office by Monday, April 12th. We will coordinate the pick up of assembled kits on Tuesday, April 13th.

Or you may choose to ship personal project boxes directly to each of your employee’s homes utilizing your company’s own shipping account. In this case Volunteer Houston will still coordinate shipping to and from corporate volunteers’ homes.

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS

Volunteer Houston staff will facilitate a contactless pick-up service from the parking garage of our offices in Midtown on Monday, April 5th. Individual participants must return completed project boxes to our office through a contactless drop-off on Tuesday, April 13th.

Step 4

CORPORATE + INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS

Learn how the volunteer work you performed is impacting our community Wednesday, April 14th @ 12:30 – 1:15 pm via ZOOM.

All participating employees and individual participants are invited to hear directly from the benefiting organizations about the direct results and impact you’re making by participating in this project. Look for the ZOOM registration link in your confirmation email.
