People are motivated to volunteer for a multitude of reasons and find ways to connect with nonprofits in a variety of ways under normal circumstances. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic Volunteer Houston reached out to the general volunteer community in the greater Houston, Texas area in April and May of 2020 to understand how the global pandemic has affected their desires and motivations to volunteer.

COVID-19 Safety Orientation for Volunteers | Ask and you shall receive! Based on feedback from the last COVID-19 Briefing for Nonprofits, Volunteer Houston has prepared an 11-minute pre-recorded COVID Safety Orientation for Volunteers.

  • We strongly recommend you begin your own COVID safety orientation with this 11-min video, and follow it up with your specific guidelines and expectations of volunteers – i.e. screening, reporting, PPE, etc.
  • This orientation is not meant to completely train your volunteers on COVID safety practices because your organization should review your own COVID safety practices and policies specific to your facilities and the work you are doing.
