Testimonials

We actually built up a marvelous base of volunteers through Volunteer Houston. Even when we made one of our needs inactive, we had such a list of willing volunteers that have been a tremendous base of consistent volunteers at the center!  Thank you!  It is a testimony of the quality and seriousness of the volunteers that come through Volunteer Houston.

Andi Cook, JustServe

“The VETP was a really neat experience – learning about what we already do but in a quantified, specified capacity is helpful as we plan and move forward. It was  joyous to connect with other volunteer administrators and learn that we all have the same struggles.”

VETP Graduate, 2022

As for the MLK Mural assembly, we all loved the fact that it came in panels because different volunteer “artists” contributed to painting of it. We loved that communal aspect of it all! It’s eye-catching and a conversation starter. And in talking about it with visitors and clients, we’ve gotten nothing but positive and nice comments.

Veronica Bucio, United Against Human Trafficking

Ten years ago, Freewheels Houston started with a simple idea: a bicycle could change a life. Volunteer Houston was the spark for us. They connected us with the hands and hearts that make our mission possible. Every volunteer who shows up, every hour spent fixing bikes or teaching safety – it started with a connection.

Bill Mintz, Freewheels Houston

Thank you so much for the information at the VETP these past two weeks! You do such a great job as a presenter! I found many things that I could learn from and improve the way I am currently running my Volunteering Program. I will keep all the materials as a reference going forward. I will look forward to further training and opportunities through Volunteer Houston.

Daily Point of Light Award

HONORING INDIVIDUALS WHO CHANGE THE WORLD

Millions of people act on their power to do good every day, using their hearts, hands and minds to help strengthen communities and solve persistent problems. We recognize their individual stories, and lift them up to inspire others so we may each, in our own way, answer the call to make a difference. Do you know someone who acts as a point of light in their community each day? Nominate them for a Daily Point of Light Award.
