We actually built up a marvelous base of volunteers through Volunteer Houston. Even when we made one of our needs inactive, we had such a list of willing volunteers that have been a tremendous base of consistent volunteers at the center! Thank you! It is a testimony of the quality and seriousness of the volunteers that come through Volunteer Houston.
“The VETP was a really neat experience – learning about what we already do but in a quantified, specified capacity is helpful as we plan and move forward. It was joyous to connect with other volunteer administrators and learn that we all have the same struggles.”
As for the MLK Mural assembly, we all loved the fact that it came in panels because different volunteer “artists” contributed to painting of it. We loved that communal aspect of it all! It’s eye-catching and a conversation starter. And in talking about it with visitors and clients, we’ve gotten nothing but positive and nice comments.
I am just slowing down for the day and didn’t want to end it without saying THANK YOU for considering HCCAC for this wonderful opportunity. Volunteer Houston has been a far greater resource than I ever imagined.
Thank you so much for the information at the VETP these past two weeks! You do such a great job as a presenter! I found many things that I could learn from and improve the way I am currently running my Volunteering Program. I will keep all the materials as a reference going forward. I will look forward to further training and opportunities through Volunteer Houston.
Volunteer Engagement Training Program
This interactive 6-module course (provided by Points of Light) empowers volunteer managers and coordinators – both formal and informal – to return to their organization and their team with ready-to-use tools, best practices, and innovative ideas that, when fully adopted, will boost volunteer engagement in a way that naturally fosters long-term volunteers. We will also introduce the Supportive Environments for Effectiveness (SEE) framework. Transformation is possible when nonprofits adopt a SEE mindset and experiment with small changes in their work environments.
NETWORKING FOR VOLUNTEER ADMINISTRATORS
HAVA has a new home with Volunteer Houston and the United Way of Greater Houston!
Established in 1973, the Houston Association of Volunteer Administrators (HAVA) is a program for volunteer engagement professionals led by volunteer engagement professionals to educate, empower, and elevate each other. We are collaborating with past HAVA leadership and the United Way of Greater Houston to define new membership parameters and processes that align with our new post-pandemic reality.
Join us at the United Way of Greater Houston (50 Waugh Drive) for our first in-person gathering since early 2020! We are planning a feedback-focused agenda and will close with 30-min of casual networking.
